Spring scenes in Kirkby countryside

Ashfield Chad reader Jean Waring took this magnificent photograph of the Nottinghamshire countryside while out walking to the Dumbles in Kirkby on a sunny Sunday.

It captures the fields of oilseed rape in full bloom, painting the landscape a wonderful golden colour, in an area known locally as the Cowpastures.

Jean, of Ash Crescent, said that she goes down to the Dumbles every year to see the bluebells in the woodland. “It’s beautiful and lots of people in Kirkby don’t even know it’s there,” she said.
