AN exhibition detailing the history of Southwell Minster is on display at the cathedral until next month.
‘Southwell Minster: Chapter, County and Country’ tells the story of the Minster and its relations with the local community and wider world.
The story is told through a series of illustrated panels covering more than a thousand years of English history, starting from the Minster’s earliest beginnings right up to present day.
The exhibition, available to view in the Minster itself, will be on display until 11th July.
“We’re very excited to have this material on display,’’ Dean of Southwell Minster, the Very Revd John Guille, said.
“It will be fascinating for visitors to see how the history of the cathedral is interwoven with national events and characters from the past.’
“I want to encourage everyone to come and see the display and learn more about the stories that have made the Minster what it is today.”
The day Southwell Minster was struck by lightning is one of many events charted in the exhibition, which has taken three years to put together.
Parishes around the county will be able to book the exhibits for their church to display after 11th July.
