South Normanton school bids farewell to headteacher duo

The Brigg Infant School in South Normanton held a special assembly for the headteacher Isobel Martin and co-headteacher Alison Dugdale who are both leaving the school.
Pupils at The Brigg Infant School, South Normanton, said farewell to their head teacher and co-head teacher in a special assembly on Wednesday.

Head teacher Isobel Martin is retiring after 12 years at the school and Alison Dugdale is leaving to become head teacher at Middleton Primary School in Nottingham.

Mrs Middleton (58) said: All the pupils staff and parents at the school have been wonderful and South Normanton is a great community.

“I would like to tell the children to carry on working as hard as they do and carry on enjoying learning. I will miss them very much and wish them all the very best for the future.”

Mrs Middleton, moved to the school in 2002 from her position as deputy head of Clay Cross Infant School in Derbyshire,

She was recently awarded a 25-year long service award by Derbyshire County Council.

The head and co-head have worked alongside each other as a team at the school for 11 years.

They said they were particularly proud of developing the playground and links with schools in France, America Sri Lanka and Australia.

Mrs Middleton will still be playing a part in education in the area, as she has been invited to become a governor at South Normanton Nursery School.

She added: “I am looking forward to helping the community in that role.

“I am also looking forward to looking after my 10-month old granddaughter and spending time with my husband Keith at our cottage in France.”
