Mansfield Unitarians are running a charity soup lunch on Saturday, at the Old Meeting House Schoolrooms, to raise funds for Christian Aid.

Soup will be served from 11am until 1pm, with donations towards the anti-poverty campaigns of Christian Aid.

Organiser and Old Meeting House Committee member Paul Frost said “We are very pleased to be able to contribute to the work of Christian Aid and have recently taken part in a secondhand jewellery collection to raise funds for a health project in Sierra Leone.

“All donations are welcome, however small.”

The historic 1702 Meeting House, between Walkden Street and Stockwell Gate, will be open to visitors until noon.

Mansfield Unitarians are commemorating the 350th anniversary of ‘The Great Ejection’, when dissenting ministers were removed from their livings in the Church of England.

Some of these dissenters founded the Mansfield congregation that evolved into today’s Mansfield Unitarians.
