Soap star lights up Glapwell Carnival
Held at the village’s cricket ground, the event saw floats, a fancy dress parade, a dog show, quad bikes, a mini steam train, inflatables, children’s rides and a falconry display.
The celebrity guest was Matthew Wolfenden, who plays David Metcalfe in ITV soap Emmerdale.

“Matthew was excellent and stayed for three or four hours, walking around all the stalls and floats, mixing with everyone and posing for photographs,” said GCDG chairman Rachel Hibbert.
“The organisers of the carnival in years gone by (the carnival has been resurrected after ceasing in the 1980s) say he was the best celebrity guest they had ever had.”
“It was a day when families, friends and long lost neighbours could get together and kids could enjoy being in the open and have a thoroughly wonderful time.
