SLIDESHOW: Ashfield District Council awards night helps put the pride back in the district

Dignitaries, members of the public and councillors came together on Friday night to honour the good citizens of the district.

A number of awards were handed out to hard-working citizens and busineses who have all played their part in helping make Ashfield a better place to live.

Bakkavor Welcome Foods won the Business of the Year honour for their work with Sutton Job Centre to boost employment in the town.

The firm, which has more than 250 employees, supplies child and ambient sauces to supermarkets across the country.

Other award winners included Home Start for their work in supporting the Sutton community.

Members of the Portland Path Project were also left celebrating after they were awarded the Rural Group of the Year award.
