Pupils at Skegby Junior Academy were recently visited by child abuse prevention charity, the NSPCC, and learnt all about the importance of being active in an assembly that it held.

Following on from this visit, they then took part in the ‘Big Workout’, which raises funds for the NSPCC and ChildLine by asking schoolchildren to collect sponsors for completing physical tasks during an hour-long workout.

Carl Pattison, principal of the Skegby Junior Academy, said: “They took part in various circuits with the aim of completing at least three of them to gain 100 points.

“Amongst others, the circuits included skipping, hurdles, multi-skills and football dribbling.

“They worked hard for an hour and pushed themselves to improve at each event.

“The weather was beautiful and the event was a success. As well as raise funds for NSPCC, it allowed the whole school to come together and be active which is one of our key values.”

The amount that the school raised is still being added up but is expected to total hundreds of pounds.
