Skegby Guides - At Wednesday week’s meeting Erika Marshall and Beth Peake led making Valentine cards and designing and printing bags for passion-for-fashion badgework.

Busy Bees Club - At Anchor Centre 17 pre-school children, accompanied by adults, attended last Tuesday week’s meeting and 10 accompanied children attended Thursday week’s meeting. Members decorated biscuits and made cards for Valentine’s Day. They celebrated Evelyn Martin’s second birthday.

Beechwood Court - Chairman of 50 Plus Club, Mr Norman Broadbelt, opened Thursday week’s meeting attended by 35 members. He was bingo caller assisted by Mesdames M. Gwynn, J. Turner and M. Marchant. Mrs S. Key and Mrs S. Clarke served teas and Messrs A. Key, T. Rowe and J. Clarke and Mrs Gwynn did kitchen duties. Mesdames Turner, Marchant and J. Boyer sold tickets. Raffle winner was Mrs D. Mitchell. Quiz winners were Mesdames J. Milde, D. Kirby and Turner.

Methodist Church - At Saturday week’s coffee morning for Mansfield Male Voice Choir the choir’s supporters’ group members, assisted by choir members, served breakfasts and ran cake, tombola and white elephant stalls. The choir sang The Rose, Soldiers’ Chorus and Kwmbayah. John and Anne Baines led Sunday week’s all-age cafe-style service. Caroline Nash, Miranda Gray, Malc Beniston, Megan and Shannon Jones, Eva Harrison, Bethany Hart, Lauren Robinson and Roy Horner took part. Di Smith operated the clavinova and Arnie Kells manned the sound mixer desk. Sandra Burton gave a PowerPoint presentation. Callum and Alicia Gilder and Adam Dabbs were musicians. Claire and John Gilder served refreshments. Door stewards were Margaret Jones and Fay Walker and vestry stewards were Trevor and Brenda Johnson.

St Andrew’s Church - There was a Little Fishes Toddlers’ group activity period last Monday week. Later there was a Messy Church event at the hall. On Thursday week there was a 20-minutes’ prayer period. The Vicar, Canon Dr Richard Kellett, celebrated Sunday week’s early said Holy Communion. The Curate, the Rev Kate Byrom, with the vicar led morning worship. Organist was John Dunn and Karen Bradshaw gave a Bible reading. David Swain led prayers and John Whitbread and Sue Mountain were in the ministry team. Stewards were John and Jane Crafts. Mike and Mary Collins and Hilary Hillman led junior church at the church hall where refreshments were served afterwards. The curate conducted a midday baptism service for Zeena Kaney and Rileigh-Mae Mosses.

Monday Club - At Healdswood Community Centre chairman Mr Jim Clarke opened Monday week’s meeting, attended by 25 members. Raffle winner was Mrs M. Shore and ticket sellers were Mesdames M. Briggs, K. Nelson and M. Gwynn. Bingo callers were Mr Clarke and Mrs M. Wallace. Mrs J. Hague and Mrs R. White did kitchen duties and Mrs E. Wright provided refreshments.

Rainbows - At a Valentine-theme meeting on Wednesday week stars of the week went to Mary Makinson-Smith and Hannah Makinson-Smith. Weekly awards were given to Emily Philbin, Mae Rossi, Phoebe Rowe and Darcy Rowe.

Craftwork was making ‘hearts’ and ‘loving hands’. Plans were made for a party to celebrate Millie Daws and Amelia Fretwell leaving for Brownies.

G Force line dancing - Gaye Teather taught an Irish-style dance at yesterday week’s meeting at Anchor Centre. Lynne Wright celebrated her birthday.
