A video about the work of Operation Christmas Child was shown at a cafe-style all-age Christingle service arranged by Anneand John Baines. Other services during Advent were led by Arnie Kells, the

Minister, the Rev Alan Boyd and Kathleen Bramwell. Sutton Salvation Army Band and songsters and Lenna Purseglove provided music at the communitycarol service. The offertory raised £268.68 to be shared equally between the

Salvation Army and Help for Heroes. Members of Meeting Point, for peoplewith learning disabilities, took part in their carol service. The crib they and theirhelpers had made was used for Christmas services. The minister celebrated

midnight communion on Christmas Eve. A collection then and donations in

lieu of Christmas cards were for Action for Children. Worship leader Brenda Goldsmith opened Sunday week’s service led by Marian Matthews. Vestry stewards were Trevor and Brenda Johnson. Di Smith and Denise Matters operated the clavinova and Doris Taylor manned the sound mixer desk. The Rev Judith Shewen led prayers for Jean Brooks, on the recent death of her

husband, Don. Sandra Burton gave a PowerPoint presentation and, with Josie Kemp, gave Bible readings. Shannon and Megan Jones took the offertory and Anne and John Baines led junior church. Di Smith, Ann Patrick and Denise Matters served refreshments.


At Anchor Centre during the club’s Christmas parties the Rev Judith Shewen and Anne Baines led crib services and Santa Claus, alias Colin Kirkwood, distributed presents. For details of vacancies

crib service and midnight Holy Communion on Christmas Eve. He also led Christmas Day’s all-age Holy Communion. John Whitbread gave Bible readings at midnight communion and Christmas Day’s service. Associate

Priest, the Rev Adrian Dempster, and his wife, Maureen, led Sunday week’s Christingle service. Sue Mountain and Stewart Riley gave Bible readings. Mary Whitbread and Celia Kellett were in the ministry team. John Dunn was organist

for all services. Joyce Whetton, Sheila Shepherd and Elaine Hoult served refreshments.
