Brewery Greene King has spent a six-figure sum on a makeover at the Widecombe Fair on Oak Tree Lane, which is now part of the Eating Inn brand.

And among specially invited guests at its launch event was the chairman of Mansfield District Council, Coun Kevin Brown.

“I am delighted to have officially re-opened the Widecombe Fair,” said Coun Brown. “It’s great to see a large investment in the area, creating local jobs.

“The restaurant is a fantastic venue that I am sure will be loved by the people of Mansfield and beyond.”

The Widecombe Fair’s general manager, Terry Titley, welcomed all the guests, who enjoyed a fizz reception and were then treated to a showcase of the dishes from the main menu.

Terry said: “It is such an exciting time as we welcome guests, both new and old, through the doors. The pub restaurant offers something for everyone.

“We are all about great service, food and drinks in a friendly, relaxed environment.

“The new surroundings make you feel at home. As soon as you walk in, we offer full service at your table, letting you sit back and relax.”

The menu includes a range of modern and classic dishes, from home-made soups to grills, burgers, sharing dishes and light lunches. The venue is open every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
