Shop worker shaken after Bolsover knife robbery

Knife-wielding robbers held a blade against a woman’s chest and demanded she hand over the till when they targeted a corner shop.

The shop assistant who is in her 40s was left shaken after the incident, when two hooded youths raided the Moor Lane Stores on Moor Lane in Bolsover

Ali Amarsi, who owns the shop as well as Crossways on Langwith Road, said: “One of them went to go into the stockroom and she stopped him.

“Then he pounced at her with a long knife on her chest and asked her to give the money from the till.

“They took the tray out and went off.”

He described the men as around 19 or 20 and said they were wearing hooded tops with their faces covered.

Mr Amarsi added: “She is quite shaken up but she hopes to come back to work again. I told her to just take her time.

“This has never happened in my shops before in 19 years since I have run them. I have been well respected in the area, because I have respected my customers and kept a good rapport with them.

“If you respect people, they respect you back in return.”

He said he has had CCTV installed following the incident.

“I just need to try and get my business back now” he added.

Detectives in Bolsover are appealing for information following the robbery, which happened at around 6.20pm on Sunday, February 16.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Police, said: “The offenders ran off in the direction of Hillstown. No one was injured during the incident.

“Officers believe a till tray may have been discarded in the area and would urge anyone who finds one to contact police.”
