Fire crews from Shirebrook were called out to two late-night arson incidents just 90 minutes apart.

The crews first got a call to attend a rubbish fire just before 11pm last night, Friday 27th March, where they found an old mattress well alight on Main Street, Whaley Thorns, close to the junction with New Scott Street.

They used a hose reel jet to bring it under control and left the scene minutes later.

Then, they received another call shortly before 12.30am to a rubbish bin fire on New Scott Street which again was well alight on arrival.

The police were also in attendance.
