Sherwood Tory MP confirms he will not be defecting to UKIP after Internet speculation
Sherwood MP Mark Spencer has said he will not be defecting to UKIP after yet more Internet speculation today.
The Conservative politician was featured on the Political Scrapbook website with the headline: Defection manoeuvres? UKIP candidate reshuffle creates vacancy in target seat.
Denying the rumours, MP Mark Spencer told the Chad: “I am concentrating on my campaign as the Conservative candidate for the next election. I suppose there is only one thing worse than being gossiped about and that is not being gossiped about.”
Rumours of further Tory defections to UKIP follow the high profile defections of Douglas Carswell and Mark Reckless from the Conservatives to UKIP.
