Sherwood MP was 'furious' when he heard of plans to build more houses in Hucknall

A Sherwood MP has criticised Gedling Borough Council's plans to add further housing to sites on the borders of Hucknall.

A plan will go before the Cabinet at Gedling to increase numbers at the North of Papplewick Lane site by around 140 homes, on top of the 1140 already planned, despite it having previously been reduced to 300.

Sherwood MP, Mark Spencer, said: “It’s appalling that Gedling feel they can just ride roughshod over local people and do what they want with no consequences.

“In my view they’re not working with Ashfield at they’re supposed to, they’re not consulting with people properly, and we’re now faced with a situation where this decision will be made before anybody even knows it’s on the table.

“That’s 140 more homes for Hucknall’s services to cope with, 300 or more residents, and yet nobody in this area has even been informed.

“When Councillor Bradley told me about this I was furious, and I’m going to ask some serious questions about how we can hold them to account over this decision.”

Mr Spencer has written to the Planning Minister Brandon Lewis to ask for his advice.
