Sherwood MP Mark Spencer guest column: Rainworth charity is very impressive

It is always a pleasure to be invited to visit charities and voluntary organisations in my constituency so as you can imagine I was very excited to visit a new venture in Rainworth called ‘Sam’s Work place’.

This is a small shop and cafe on Preston Road that also provides stimulating and interesting work experience opportunities for people with learning difficulties.

Working in this unassuming high street shop allows them to develop their social skills, promotes independent living and aids personal development.

The organization works with social services as part of an individual’s Self Directed Support Plan and they have a dedicated group of staff who provide support and guidance.

This is a truly brilliant organization, it genuinely provides a working environment for people with learning difficulties allowing them to develop greater confidence, improved self-esteem and a chance to broaden their horizons.

I am always delighted to visit a shop selling a selection of delicious sweets and cupcakes! I am very impressed to see what they have achieved and feel so privileged to be personally invited along and given the opportunity to support their fantastic work.
