BOSSES at Sherwood Forest Hospitals say they have delivered another successful staff flu vaccination campaign, making them one of the highest achievers in the East Midlands.
The campaign has been running for many years, where employees are given the option to receive a free vaccine enabling them to continue to provide vital services and protect all those they come into contact with.
The 2012/13 season has seen 52.1 per cent of frontline staff taking the opportunity to get protection from developing flu.
Karen Fisher, executive director of human resources for the Trust, said: “With a national average uptake of 45.9 per cent this is a record achievement thanks to the hard work and dedication from the team involved in the vaccination programme. “It is also testament to our staff who take patient safety and wellbeing very seriously.
“Flu can lead to a lot of people being off work through sickness, which puts additional pressure on our services during the winter months.
“The vaccination is not mandatory so it was important for us to get a strong message across to our staff, and the results this year show our campaign was a great success.
“Having this high proportion of our staff vaccinated has certainly helped to limit transmission of the virus during flu season.”
