THE GOVERNING body of the Newark & Sherwood Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has welcomed a local petition calling for protection of the NHS.

The petition, signed by 525 local residents, was part of a larger, ongoing nationwide petition signed by over 300,000 people, organised by the campaigning group, 38 Degrees.

Suresh Chauhan, spokesman for 38 Degrees-NHS-Newark & Sherwood said: “The CCG is in the process of reviewing its procurement policy and we presented some detailed suggestions for ways to safeguard local NHS services from the worst effects of competition and privatisation.”
