Shed crime spree sparks warning

Police are warning residents to lock up sheds and outbuildings after a spate of break-ins in the Annesley Woodhouse area.

Moutain bikes, fishing tackle and tools were among the items stolen in six incidents reported between Thursday July 7 and Wednesday July 13.

Inspector Glenn Longden said: “Sheds and garages are being targeted. In some instances a forced entry has been made and in others the property had been left insecure.

“We ask that if you have any knowledge of these crimes or have seen suspicious persons about please report this to the police immediately. At this time of year if you are away please make sure your property is left secure.”

Fishing tackle was stolen from a shed in Daybek Rise, Annesley Woodhouse, sometime between Thursday July 7 and 10am Monday July 11.

Between Thursday, July 7 and 5pm Sunday July 10 a Voodoo Bokor Mountain bike with white and red writing on the front was stolen from a garage in Daybek Rise, Annesley Woodhouse.

From overnight to 10am on Thursday July 7 in Wesley Street, Annesley Woodhouse, a red and black KTM Mountain bike was stolen from an insecure brick outbuilding.

Two unsuccessful attempts were made to break into sheds on Main Street and Forest Street, in Annesley Woodhouse.

A shed on the allotments on Wighay Road, Hucknall, was broken into and screwdrivers and other tools were stolen sometime between 12 midday and 5.40pm on Tuesday, July 12.
