Severn Trent to start work in Alfreton

Severn Trent Water customers in Alfreton will benefit from a £35,000 investment in work, which will help to secure their water supply.

The work, which begins on 1st June, will include the installation of nearly 300 metres of new water pipes in the area.

Liz James, Severn Trent Water engineer, said: “We want to make sure that our customers continue to receive a reliable water supply.

“Unfortunately, the water pipes in the Alfreton area have grown old and they’re now prone to bursts.

“There will need to be temporary traffic lights in the area for us to undertake the work safely. The programme of works is due to be completed by mid July.

“We understand that there are shops and businesses in the area of the work, and also a main bus route and we’ve been working with the local Highway Authority to make sure we do all we can to help minimise disruption.

“We’d like to ask the local community to bear with us until the new pipes are in place. We won’t be there for long, but the benefits will be.”
