Series of break-ins at Southwell

DETECTIVES investigating a spate of burglaries in Southwell are asking for help to track down the offenders.

Five burglaries or attempted burglaries took place on 26th March in a small part of the town.

Officers say all the offences, which took place in the West Gate area, were committed between 7-9.30pm, and were carried out by the same offenders.

Attempts were made to break into addresses on Westgate and Warrands Close, while cash, jewellery and electrical equipment was stolen from properties in Hillside Drive and Lowes Wong.

The offenders also broke into a property in Vicarage Road, but nothing was taken.

Pc Richard Gettings said: “There were only four burglaries or attempted burglaries in Southwell in January and February, so to have five on the same night is extremely unusual.

“The offenders must have spent quite some time in the area and are believed to have been on foot, so I would urge anyone who lives in West Gate or any of the surrounding streets to cast their minds back to that Saturday night and think about whether they saw anything or anyone unusual in the area.”

Anyone with any information should contact Pc Gettings on 0300 300 9999 ext 809 7638.

Alternatively, they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
