A Selston writer, who has just published her debut novel, says she is ‘thrilled’ by the response she has had so far.

Karla Hall’s romantic comedy Antidote to Infidelity has been available as a Kindle edition since Monday - and it has already been downloaded by hundreds of readers.

Speaking shortly after its publication, 34-year-old Karla said: “I’m really excited - and exhausted.

“It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster and there have been some 24-hour stints at the keyboard.

“But it’s worth it to know it’s out there now and hopefully being enjoyed.”

The light-hearted novel looks at motherhood, relationships, adultery, jealousy, revenge, deceit, insecurity and much more - and promises to be packed with humour, irony and unexpected twists.

It set in the fictional town of Goldwell Holt in Nottinghamshire and tells the tale of Sally Moss, a stressed mother of twins on the brink of a Christmas marital meltdown after her handsome husband Will confesses he’s been unfaithful.

With their relationship in crisis, Sally finds herself falling for dashing doctor Mike Foster.

Her quirky circle of friends tell her that revenge is the answer - so Sally has to decide whether an affair with Dr Mike is the antidote to infidelity.

Meanwhile, Karla, who works as a freelance journalist for the Chad and the Hucknall Dispatch, has described the writing process - and she has also thanked all those who have picked up her novel so far.

She said: “I have put my heart and soul into writing Antidote to Infidelity and am totally in love with all of the characters.

“They’ve been real to me from day one, like a whole other world running alongside mine. This really brings them to life.

“I’m so very grateful to everyone who buys the book - thank you so much.”

Karla is now hoping to see her second novel, Foster Wife, published in late autumn.

It follows Sophie Blake, who is a marriage counsellor with a twist. Her concept of RRR - Residential Relationship Respite - proves very popular with fed-up wives because she offers live-in therapy for their imperfect husbands.
