Detectives investigating an historic assault case have issued an 'e-fit' image of a boy who may have information that could help the inquiry.

The image shows the boy as described when the assaults were reported to have taken place in Bolsover in the 1970s.

Believed to be nicknamed 'dutch', he would have been aged between seven and 13 at the time and had blond hair, blue eyes and a large nose.

It is thought that he did not speak English, and officers said they believe he may have witnessed a sexual assault dating back four decades.

DC Katherine Hewitt said: “This is quite an unusual appeal for information in that we have produced an e-fit of a boy based on how he looked in the 1970s.

“But it is possible that he may have crucial information relating to our investigation.

“We hope that someone might recognise the description, or might know of someone who was nicknamed Dutch, and didn’t speak English.

“By appealing for help publicly, we hope to see if he can help our inquiries out, so I would urge anyone who might know him to get in touch.”

Anyone who might recognise the e-fit from the time, the description of the boy from the time, or the nickname Dutch, should call DC Katherine Hewitt on 101.
