The search for missing Ciaran intensifies

The search for missing Ciaran Sweeny is continuing with the support of the Mansfield community.

Police are investigating any new sightings with the highest priority and speaking to friends and neighbours.

Officers will today be visiting Ciaran’s school friends from the Samworth Church Academy, in Mansfield, and their families, and seek consent to search their homes.

Extensive house to house enquires will also continue in the Oak Tree Lane Estate particularly focusing on properties in the vicinity of ‘The Heathers’. We will seek the consent of occupants to allow searches of their houses / gardens and outbuildings.

Viv Preece, vice principal of Samworth Church Academy, said: “Ciaran has been with the Samworth Church Academy since 2010 and he has maintained 100 per cent attendance since his time here. He is an extremely pleasant, academically bright, hardworking student. Ciaran has excelled outside of the classroom in playing rugby and outdoor pursuits. He is a keen and adventurous young man who would like to follow in Bear Grylls footsteps. We are all worried and miss him very much and we are praying for his safe return.”

Ciaran was reported missing from home on 14th September. Although there have been numerous potential sightings of him in the local area he is yet to return home.

The last possible sighting, by a member of the public, was at about 2pm in Longshaw Road, Mansfield, on Sunday.

Ciaran Sweeny was reported missing from home on Saturday morning (Saturday 14 September). Although there have been numerous potential sightings of him in the local area he is yet to return home.

The last possible sighting, by a member of the public, was at about 2pm in Longshaw Road, Mansfield, on Sunday 22 September 2013.

Ciaran is white and about 5ft 2ins tall. He has brown short hair and is of a slim build.

He was last seen wearing a black coat with a hooded top, tracksuit bottoms and trainers.
