Scooterer's strip for charity calendar

The group of mod and classic scooter enthusiasts stripped off and straddled their machines, using a variety of props to hide their modesty in the semi-naked calendar.

Thirteen of the scooter fanatics at the Mansfield Roadrunners Scooter Club took part in the shoot, after losing club members Wendy Booth, aged 50, and 38-year-old Carla Incerti-Fisher to cancer.

They decided to do something fun to remember them and well as raising money for charity.

Stephanie Adkins, calendar organiser, said: “When I first got the idea, I mentioned it to the other riders’ wives and they said the lads would be up for doing it.

“All the club members were really enthusiastic about it.”

Stephanie said the club had never done anything like it before, but everyone had a great day doing the shoot with photographer Lizzy Orridge.

Part of the money is being raised for the Dollar for Dawson campaign in aid of Dawson Willcock, who was diagnosed with hepatoblastoma, an extremely rare form of liver cancer.

In most cases it can be treated with chemotherapy. However, Dawson is resistant to it.

His parents were trying to raise £500,000 to take him to America for special treatment, but have now been told it would only extend his life, rather than offer a cure.

They are now looking to raise the money for other children.

Money raised from the calendar will also go toward Macmillan Cancer Relief nurses.

Geoff Adkins, a club member, said the nurses gave tremendous support to their friends when they were suffering from cancer.

He said: “Our aim when we started was to raise about £500 but it’s going to be much more than that now. It looks like it’ll raise a couple of thousand pounds.”
