Sci-Fi burglars steal Dr Who toys from Mansfield shop

Burglars who raided a Sci-Fi toy shop have been branded '˜low-life scum' after clearing the business out of stock '“ stealing Dr Who models, Star Trek ships and Game of Thrones figures.

Who’s Toy’s in Ratcliffe Gate, known for it’s life-size replica Dalek, was broken into by thieves on Friday, August 5, and now the owner has branded thieves ‘low-life scum’.

John Hadlow, 49, has run a small sci-fi toy shop for 10 years, dealing in Dr Who-themed toys, model TARDISes and other film memorabilia

So when thieves broke into his Ratcliffe gate shop in the early hours of Friday morning, swiping most of his stock, it left him devastated.

He said: “When I arrived at the shop the police were already here. Someone has smashed though the grills, smashed the padlock, kicked in the door and took all I’ve got.

“I was absolutely devastated, as though my whole world had been destroyed.”

The thieves took almost all John’s stock including figures from Batman Star Wars and Game of Thrones action figures, worth hundreds in total.

“I’m only a small shop, and this means I’ve got to start all over again from scratch.”

John has been a Sci-Fi fan since a young age, to the point that he was picked on at school.

He said: “I was mercilessly bullied at school for being a geek. I’d always had people like that picking on me, and now I feel like these kinds of no-brain malicious bullies are still picking on me.”

But now over six foot and 18 stone - John doesn’t often get bullied these days, he said.

“I wish I was here when they broke in so I could have faced them.

“These low-life scum have brought me down but I’m ordering stock and putting in extra security. I’m going to bounce back from this.”

Among the items taken were Dr Who cookie jars, authentic Batman cowls, limited edition star wars anniversary mugs. Star Trek spaceships, Batman action figures and Star Wars Action Figures, Dr Who toys including Tardises, and model Daleks.

Nottinghamshire Police confirmed the incident and said anyone with information can call 101 quoting incident 145-5/8 or call crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

John is also offering a reward to anyone who can return his stock.
