Parents are being urged to park away from a school entrance following an accident in which a pupil was knocked down.

The 11-year-old was taken to hospital on Friday after being in collision with a car outside of Brunts Academy at around 3.30pm.

It happened near the Bath Lane entrance to the school.

The year-seven youngster was taken to hospital by ambulance but later released suffering only minor injuries.

The headteacher, Carl Atkin, told Chad: “Student safety is paramount and reminders have been given in assemblies regarding road safety.

“The school will contact parents in September to encourage them to park well away from the school site and, in particular, Bath Lane.”
