School scores outstanding with Ofsted

The principal of Rainworth’s Dawn House School has said she is ‘delighted’ it has been awarded an outstanding rating in all areas by Ofsted.

Inspectors complimented the school for pupils’ progress and the quality of the teaching when awarding the rating - which is an improvement on its previous good.

Dawn House is a specialist school for children and young people aged 5-19 years with a severe or complex communication difficulty or Asperger’s syndrome, run by charity I CAN.

Principal Angela Child said: “We are absolutely delighted that our school has been judged Outstanding by Ofsted inspectors

“All the staff, students and families work together to ensure we strive for excellence, from our primary class right through to our Further Education students and this has been reflected in the report.

“Pupils are supported to make outstanding progress, despite their different difficulties and starting points, and are all motivated to achieve to the best of their ability.

“We have a wonderful school community here and I am very proud of all the students and staff for achieving such an outstanding report.”

Inspectors found the quality of provision, including teaching, and the effectiveness of leaders at all levels had improved.

It read: “Pupils behave exceptionally well and make enormous strides in their ability to manage their own behaviour.”
