Mansfield school children gifted hi-vis bag tags to stay safe on roads

Pupils at The Flying High Academy Ladybrook in Mansfield have received a donation of 250 hi-vis bag tags from David Wilson Homes to help ensure they remain visible and safe during their journeys to and from school.

The donation forms part of Bright Journeys, a new campaign from Barratt and David Wilson Homes which aims to help up to 2,000 pupils across the country stay safe and visible on the school run.

Through the campaign, participating schools will receive a selection of hi-vis equipment, including vests, drawstring kit bags and reflective bag tags.

The initiative aims to encourage safer, more confident and active travel to school, while helping children develop positive habits that can benefit their health, wellbeing and independence.

The bag tags donated to The Flying High Academy Ladybrook will help children stand out to drivers and other road users, particularly during busy school run times when visibility can be reduced.

Located near David Wilson Homes’ The Hawthorns development in Sutton-in-Ashfield, The Flying High Academy Ladybrook is the latest recipient of the homebuilder’s commitment to promoting community safety.

The homebuilder’s Bright Journeys campaign aligns with Walk to School Month in October and Road Safety Week from 15th to 21st November, both of which encourage safer and more active journeys to school.

Jane Adams, attendance officer at The Flying High Academy Ladybrook, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to David Wilson Homes for the very kind donation of hi-vis bag tags for our children.

“These will be a great help in keeping our children safe and visible, especially when travelling to and from school during the darker mornings and evenings.

“Donations like this make a real difference and are very much appreciated by everyone at school.”

John Reddington, managing director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “As we encourage more pupils to walk, cycle and scoot to school, it’s important that they remain clearly visible, particularly during busy mornings and at dusk.

“We’re proud to donate these hi-vis bag tags to The Flying High Academy Ladybrook, helping each pupil to travel safely and confidently to school.”
