A total of 55 members of the Mansfield parkrun club took part in a special edition of the 5km run that is held every Saturday morning.

“The distance is run over three laps, but people can do it in their own time, whether that be 15 minutes or 50,” said event director Rachael Chadwick, who dressed up as Rudolph.

“Some people run hard to try to beat their own time, while others jog and walk, so there is a real mix of abilities.

People were encouraged to get into the festive spirit for this run and they certainly did, with some terrific costumes. It looked a fantastic sight.

“We welcome anyone whatever their age or ability with the emphasis on fun and enjoyment, while enabling them to get that little bit fitter at the same time.”

A further run will be held on Christmas Day at 10am and will help runners work up an appetitive for their Christmas dinner.
