Samworth Church academy celebrates improved GCSE results

Samworth Church Academy students have achieved their best ever GCSE results.

Principal Lisa McVeigh said: “We are delighted with our GCSE results and believe that overall students have made expected or above expected progress during their time with us at The Samworth Church Academy.

“We are continuing to see year on year improvement in individual and Academy performance which reflects the hard work our students put in to their studies with strong support from home and from our great people here at the Academy. Our vision for the Academy remains a long-term vision.

“However, we have a very ambitious wide-ranging agenda and we will do everything we can to continue these improvements in the years ahead.”

Among the academy’s star performers this year were Kate Tilbrook, who gained 9 grade 9s and one grade 8, Molly Williams who gained six grade 9s, three grade 8s and one Grade 7, and Evan Gardiner with three grade 9s eight grade 8s and three grade 7s.

Liam Carr, who gained one 6 five 5s and a 3 said he was pretty happy with his results which were better than he expected and was looking forward to celebrating with a family meal.

Laura Sutcliffe, who gained one 9, two 8s, two 7s one 6 and a grade A said she was very happy with her results and plans to study History , psychology and English at Nottingham College.

Natasha Toplass gained three 7s three 6s one 5 and a C. She is being rewarded for her efforts with a new hoody.

Chantelle Godber achieved one 7 two 6s four 5s and one 4.. She is off to college to study interactive media.

Kiah Liy Massey passed one grade 8, three 7s and a grade5 said she felt relieved after all her hard work and was thinking about going on to study A levels.
