Runaway tot: Staff there to protect those inside

REGARDING the Chad headline ‘Dad’s Fury at Tot’s Escape’ (29th August), regardless of the busy road nearby, the boy should not have been allowed to run off.

1. The appointment could have been booked while the children were at school.

2. I expect his time is taken up with child care so how could he withhold a job?

A security guard in a shop would not keep an eye on the children running onto the road. The staff at the JobCentre are there to protect people inside the building and I have found them to do an excellent job.

Mrs J. Conley,
