Royal British Legion needs new recruits

Edwinstowe’s branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL) is appealing for new members to bolster its ranks during the Great War centenary year.

The group’s current membership has dwindled to just ten and its organisers need greater numbers to help with fundraising.

RBL’s fundraising helps support ex-servicemen in a number of ways, including helping them find jobs or the chance of a much-needed family holiday.

Membership costs £14 per year but new members are welcome to attend a few meetings before committing.

Meetings are often used to discuss branch business but there are also guest speakers discussing everything form local history to life in the forces.

The branch currently alternates weekly meetings between the Manvers Arms, Edwinstowe and Warsop Working Men’s Club, Carr Lane.

Its next meeting will be at the Manvers Arms on 9th June at 7.30pm.
