Royal boats prize

CHAD readers are being given an opportunity to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee by winning a place on a flotilla of boats passing along the Thames.

Sir Andrew Buchanan, the Lord-Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire, and Sir John Peace, High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire, in conjunction with Chad, are offering residents the chance to win three pairs of tickets on the official boat representing the county.

Up to a thousand boats will gather on the river in preparation for the Queen to take part in the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant on 3rd June.

It will be one of the largest flotillas ever assembled on the Thames. The Nottinghamshire boat will have a capacity of 40 people, with 10 injured soldiers and other representatives from the county also on board.

Sir Andrew said: “Being from Nottinghamshire, I’m really proud to be able to have the boat that represents our county at the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant.

“I’m delighted to be able to offer people from Nottinghamshire the chance to win a place on the boat and take part in what I expect will be a glorious day bringing the Thames to life.”
