Rotary Club sleigh takes to the streets of Mansfield for annual charity appeal

The Rotary Club of Mansfield’s annual Christmas Sleigh Appeal hits the town’s streets from tomorrow, Wednesday, 4th December.

The sleigh will be in the Marples Avenue area of Mansfield Woodhouse from 6pm, then outside Tesco’s Superstore, on Chesterfield Road, on Thursday, 5th December, before taking to Westfield Lane, from 6pm, It will return to Tesco’s on Friday, 6th December. Saturday will see the sleigh roll up on Westgate, outside Marks & Spencers, and, on Monday, 9th December, collectors will be in Robin Down Lane.

Last year’s collection raised over £9,000 for local charities and organisations. Ways in which cash was spent included a new shelter for the 1st Forest Town Scout Group, a book scheme at Crescent Primary School and support for the Mansfield Music and Drama Festival, and charities Jigsaw and Framework, which help vulnerable people in Mansfield.

Details of further collection routes will be announced next week.

Rotary clubs are open to men and women of all ages who are business, professional or community leaders and who want to use their experience for the benefit of others.
