Rolls Royce jobs group meet

The first meeting of the Derby and Hucknall Rolls-Royce Skills and Job Retention Action Group is taking place on Monday 22 December.

The group has been set up to support those affected by Rolls-Royce’s announced plan to reduce global headcount by 2,600 over the next 18 months, principally in the Aerospace Division. The 2,600 reduction will be made up from:-

1200 will be across Engineering globally, with around 800 of these being in the UK.

900 will be in Rolls-Royce’s operational activities globally.

500 will in Rolls-Royce’s indirect support staff – around 300 in Aerospace and 200 in central functions.

The group will focus on support for those employees affected by reductions at Rolls-Royce’s Derby and Hucknall sites including use of the Talent Retention Solution which matches engineering talent with new job opportunities and Job Centre Plus’ Rapid Response Service.

Group members include local MPs, Derby City Council, Derbyshire County Council, Nottinghamshire County Council, Department for Work and Pensions, Job Centre Plus, Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, Skills Funding Agency, Derby Business College, D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire Chamber of Commerce, Unite and Winchester Consulting Limited

The group will meet again in the New Year.
