Rolls Royce homes plan given green light by Ashfield District Council
Arguments, allegations and accusations rained down in last night’s Ashfield District Council planning meeting as councillors voted in favour of a huge new development on the Rolls-Royce site in Hucknall.
As plans for 900 homes and a business park development were given the green light in a vote of six to three with a number of councillors raising concerns over the application, campaigners against it gasped and said the decision was ‘downright disgusting.’
“This is a very sad day for Hucknall,” said Sally Wyatt, chairman of the Reach Out Residents group who made a 20 minute presentation against the application. “There were numerous misleading statements and questions asked by councillors not answered.
“We feel we have been stabbed in the back.”
But applicants Rolls-Royce and Muse Developments ‘welcomed the decision’ amidst a very unhappy crowd of more than 70 residents who had attended the Kirkby meeting, which lasted over two hours.
