FIREFIGHTERS battled for hours to bring a lorry blaze under control after 24 tonnes of flour went up in smoke.

The trailer caught fire on the A617 near Rainworth at around 3am this morning.

They used several hose reels to dampen the flames and were still at the scene after 6am.

Nobody was injured but the road remains closed as foam and flour is still spread across the road.
