Richard Bacon celebrates his 40th birthday in Mansfield

Mansfield boy-done-good Richard Bacon returned home this week to celebrate a milestone birthday with his family.

The television and radio presenter turned 40 on Monday (November 30) and after holding a celeb-packed party attended by 100-plus people in London at the weekend, Richard marked his actual birthday with his nearest and dearest.

He and his wife Rebecca and their two children Arthur (4) and Ivy (22 months) were joined by Richard’s two sisters, Helena and Juliet and their children, at dad Paul and mum Christine’s house in Mansfield.

Richard said: “I can think of nothing more lovely than on the 40th anniversary of my birth to come home to celebrate with people who have known me all my life.”

Richard said: “I can think of nothing more lovely than on the 40th anniversary of my birth to come home to celebrate with people who have known me all my life.”

Richard currently divides his time between Los Angeles, New York and London having moved to the US to pursue television work, and describes his situation as ‘between glamorous and being a hobo’.

“New York is a better place to visit than live and LA is a better place to live than visit,” he said.

“It has the best climate in the world, It’s hot every day and there are blue skies.”

Though it is 20 years since Richard left Mansfield, he said it was ‘great’ to come back every now and again.

Mum Christine said they enjoyed a champagne celebration for his birthday.

“Paul and I are very proud of Richard’s achievements. I also love the fact that he is very family minded,” she said.

“I bought him lots of presents including some Ricardo champagne from the south of France, and a Paul Smith shirt.”

Richard said he had a busy few months coming up with work in the UK and in America .

“Live daily television is what I want to do a lot more of in the future,” he said.
