Developers at Hunter Properties stumbled upon a fantastic selection of old photos in the course of converting the olf Huthwaite Medical Centre into homes.

Owner, Nigel Barnes, said; "When we were clearing out the old Huthwaite Medical Centre for conversion, one of our guys found a box of framed photos in the attic.

"We dusted them off and found around 30 photos showing Huthwaite in earlier times - many were taken by a local photographer Ernaud Lakin. They vary from the Huthwaite Prize Band in 1956, a VE day celebration and the Huthwaite United FC in 1914 - how many of these young men came back from the front?

"We were curious to know more about them so posted them on Facebook and had a great response where locals recognised many of the faces."

Members of the Sutton Living Memory Group are to take the images on and put them on display as an exhibition in the local library.

The Huthwaite Medical Centre is currently being converted into eight one-bed apartments and bungalows for the over 55s. The project is due for completion in June.
