Residents have final say on Local Plan

The plan includes areas planned to be affected by allocations for new housing of 8,649 houses over the next 15 years.

Following a period of public consultation in February and March, the council has refined the district’s emerging Local Plan to create the Publication Local Plan.

Now the authority is publishing the document for its final round of consultation before it is submitted to the Secretary of State for examination.

The consultation will be held over six-weeks from Friday November 4 until 5pm on Monday December 19, providing an opportunity for any person or group to submit comments.

Ashfield District Council deputy leader Don Davis, said: “The Local Plan will shape the future of the district and will ensure our children and young people have the same opportunities older generations have enjoyed to have a choice of homes and access a range of jobs.

He added: “We want to ensure our communities stay together and prosper. To achieve this, we must provide new homes and areas for businesses to grow.

“We also understand that in order to support growth, new infrastructure needs to be provided, so we hope people take this opportunity to take part in this latest consultation.”

Responses submitted at this stage will be considered during the Examination in Public, by an independent planning inspector appointed by the secretary of state.

Comments submitted should focus on issues which underpin the examination, such as whether the plan is legally compliant, sound and that the duty to cooperate has been met.
