Residents evacuated after house fire in Derbyshire village

Residents in a Derbyshire village were evacuated from their homes last night after a house fire.

Firefighters attended Filigree Close in South Normanton at 11.50pm and found an external blaze close to the main gas intake.

The residents were evacuated at 12.15am and police were called to the incident to control the crowds as firefighters battled the flames.

The blaze was put out and people were allowed back into their homes at 3.30am.

Crews left the scene in the hands of the gas board at 3.50am.

There were no reports of any injuries and it is not yet known what caused the fire.
