Chris Hobson, Head of Information and Representation at East Midlands Chamber, said: “Today’s figures are welcome and reflect what our members have been telling us over the past 12 months in terms of the way many firms have created jobs, invested, expanded and helped to drive the growth we’ve seen in the local - and national - economy.

“Nottingham and the other cities in the East Midlands are strong, vibrant and are home to a broad base of businesses, from SMEs to global brands, with real strengths in advanced manufacturing, logistics, life sciences, green technology and information services.

“It is from this base that the East Midlands has emerged as a national leader in terms of driving economic growth and job creation.

“Throughout the course of 2014, local firms delivered a strong performance, as reflected in today’s report, which will give them a solid platform on which to build in 2015 and beyond.”
