REMEMBRANCE: Where you can honour the fallen in Mansfield and Ashfield this week

Mansfield and Ashfield residents will pause and remember those who have lost their lives in conflict this week.

Services will take place on Friday (Armistice Day) and Sunday (Remembrance Sunday).

Here’s the details of the services in the Mansfield and Ashfield areas.

Ceremony at Mansfield’s Four Seasons Shopping Centre for the two minutes’ silence at 11am and also ceremonies at Carr Bank, at the Sherwood Foresters and Great War Memorial.

Veterans and supporters will hold a service at the town centre Sundial in Sutton.

Remembrance Sunday

Mansfield - brief ceremony at Mansfield Civic Centre war memorial at 9.55am to include wreath laying, ahead of parade to St Peter’s and St Paul’s Church for service at 10.55am.

There will also be a service at the chapel at Mansfield’s Nottingham Road Cemetery at 10.45am, following by the laying of wreaths at the Nottingham Road war memorial in the cemetery.

Bellamy Road Community Centre will hold a service from 10.20am.

Mansfield Woodhouse - parade will leave the car park at Yeoman Hill at 10am, followed by a service at St Edmund’s Parish Church at 11am. After the service, the parade will regroup on Castle Mews and return to Yeoman Hill Park.

A wreath laying ceremony will take place at Pleasley Vale memorial, as well as parades in Warsop and Forest Town from 12.15pm, starting at Carr Lane Ex-Servicemen’s Club in Warsop and Forest Town Welfare Club respectively.

Rainworth - parade starts at the Kirklington Road village hall at 10.15am, heading to St Jude’s Church for a service at 10.45am.

Sutton - parade assembles at Portland Square in Sutton at 9.25am before heading to St Mary’s Church for a service ahead of a wreath-laying ceremony at the Cenotaph 11am.

Kirkby - service at St Thomas’ Church, Kingsway at 9.45am. Afterwards, wreaths may be laid at the town’s war memorial.

Stanton Hill and Skegby - services will begin at 10.30am starting at All Saints Church in Stanton Hill and St Andrew’s Church in Skegby.

Teversal - St Katherine’s Church will hold a service from 11am.

Huthwaite - parade will begin after the 10am service at All Saints’ Church and end with a wreath-laying ceremony at the village war memorial.

Selston - service will take place at the memorial at 9.30am.

Ironville - service at 10.15am followed by service in Jacksdale at 10.30am at the memorial on Main Street.

There is no formal service at the Pepper Gardens Memorial in Sutton, but people will have the opportunity to lay wreaths at the site throughout the day.
