Rufford Abbey remains the East Midlands’ most popular free attraction, statistics have shown.

Figures released by Visit England also puts Sherwood Forest Country Park second in the table with nearly 900,000 visitors between the two last year.

Visitors were down at Rufford by more than 5 per cent from 2014, while Sherwood Forest’s visitors increased by nearly 14 per cent.

Meanwhile, Mansfield Museum came 14th in the table, with more than 45,000 visitors last year, an increase of more than 2 per cent.
