Rambling club heads for day in White Peak

Members of the Sutton Rambling Club will be heading off on a 11.5 mile hike later this month on a route which was launched in 1991 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Peak District National Park.

It will cover popular areas of the White Peak including Chatsworth Park, Bakewell and Monsal Head and will take place on Sunday, 25th May.

Club members plan to start the walk at Baslow, before heading across Chatsworth Park for a mid morning break at the cafe in Edensor..

They then plan to continue south through Calton Pastures and descends through woodland to Bakewell for lunch.

In the afternoon the ramble takes a number of field paths westwards by Dirtlow Farm, across Kirk Dale and on to the quiet village of Sheldon.

The ramble will then continue after a break to the contrasting terrain of Deep Dale, before concluding with a steady hike up to Monsal Head.

A coach will depart the Staff of Life pub, in Sutton, at 9.15am and will also pick up at the Bancroft Lane end of Stockwell Gate in Mansfield at 9.30am

Other pick up points between these locations will also be available. The coach fare is £9,accompanied juniors are free and there is no need to pre-book.
