On Thursday 13th June more than 65 residents in Rainworth, Blidworth and Calverton woke to find the tyres on their vehicles had been slashed.

A police investigation followed and officers arrested Warren Roy Leivers-Jackson, a homeless a drug addict who had been in and out of rehabilitation for the last ten years.

Nottingham Crown Court heard on Thursday that between Sunday 9th and Monday 10th June this year, the 31-year-old had discharged himself from a rehabilitation centre and returned to his family home in Newstead where he had collected his white BMW.

He was later seen driving at speed, and on the wrong side of the road, in Oaktree Lane, Mansfield.

Officers were led to Leivers-Jackson after he was reported to have borrowed a kitchen knife from a resident in Rainworth earlier that morning ‘to cut a rope tied to his car’.

Instead he slashed tyres on at least 29 different cars before driving to Blidworth, where he targeted at least four cars as well as 11 cars in Calverton. The total damage was estimated to be more than £7,000.

Leivers-Jackson then travelled on to the Swanwick area of Derbyshire, where he was subsequently charged with damaging 23 vehicles between 12th-13th June.

Leivers-Jackson pleaded guilty to criminal damage and dangerous driving at a previous hearing and was sentenced to an 18 month jail sentence, suspended for two years,

Case Investigator Nikki Wiley from Mansfield CID said: “Dozens of residents woke on Thursday 13 June to find their vehicles damaged, causing considerable inconvenience and cost.

“Leivers-Jackson’s actions seem to be rooted in his extensive drug habit and a recent relationship breakdown. I hope our investigation shows that Nottinghamshire Police will not tolerate criminal damage and any behaviour which makes our communities feel unsafe.”
