Rainworth man wins place at regional talent contest

RAINWORTH resident Craig Jones has won a place at the regional finals of a national talent competition and hopes to be spotted by talent scouts and industry experts during his performance.

Craig (21) said: ‘‘I moved to (the area) when I was 10 and singing is something I have been doing since the age of nine.

“My favourite genres of music are pop and soul and my favourite artists are Kings Of Leon, Niki Minaj, The Script and Beyonce.”

Craig is originally from the Isle of Skye in Scotland.

He said this was too far away from the industry of his choice and so was glad when he moved further south.

He added: “I am really looking for the community to get behind me so I can represent Mansfield and do us proud.”

If Craig is successful at the regional finals in Sheffield on 25th September, he will appear at the grand final at London’s O2 Arena on 21st January next year.

The winner will be offered a recording contract and possible investment of up to £30,000, media exposure and the opportunity to tour across the UK.
