A GROUP of caring fundraisers will put their walking boots on to raise hundreds of pounds for Chad’s new air ambulance campaign.

Chad launched the life-changing fundraising drive to raise a massive £300,000 to keep the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance flying over the next 12 months.

Now the Rainworth walkers have pledged to do their bit to keep the paramedics in the sky by walking from Rainworth MW to Mansfield Market Place on 16th August.

Mark Allen, who is helping organsing the charity challenge, said: “We did something similar last year for King’s Mill Hospital and raised £1,400.

“We want to do another charity walk this year and we hope to raise as much money as we can.

“The air ambulance is a charity that we all feel strongly about. We will be calling in at a number of pubs on the way into Mansfield with buckets and hopefully people will give generously.”

The group also hope to hold a fundraising night at Rainworth MW later in the year, with raffle prizes and other attractions featuring.

Jim Vickrage, fundraiser for the service, described the life-changing campaign as tremendous news and said it would be ‘one of the biggest donations’ they had ever received.

“We try to keep costs down to a minimum and a lot of our staff are volunteers,” said Jim.

“When people donate money it is spent on what they want it to be spent on and that is saving lives. This campaign will give our service a massive boost and help us to support our new night flying operations. The money will help put the charity in a great position. We are mainly funded by public donations and we really need the support of people out their to help us do our job.

“As a service we are being called out more and more often and it is key that we have the necessary funding.”
