RAC confirm a patrolman was killed in crash at Rainworth

The RAC has paid tribute to a patrol man who died in after a smash on the A617 at Rainworth.

Nottinghamshire Police are appealing for any witnesses or dash-cam footage after a collision occurred between a car and a road side recovery agent in Rainworth on Friday (June15).

It happened on the A617, dual carriageway Rainworth at approximately 7.20pm.

A 33-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

An RAC spokesperson said: “We can confirm that one of our patrols was struck and killed while working at the roadside.

“This is a tragedy and all of our teams’ thoughts are with the patrol’s family, friends and close colleagues.

“We are working closely with the police on their investigation.”

Anyone who saw the collision, any motorists who have dash-cam footage or anyone who has any other information about the incident is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 871 of 15 June 2018, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
