Purse bells handed out to tackle 'handbag dipping' crime in Ashfield

Free bells are being given away to combat one of the most common types of crime, ‘handbag dipping’.

Handbag dipping is when offenders steal items from handbags left unzipped or unattended.

These offences can happen at any time of the year but are particularly prevalent around the festive period when shopping areas are busy with large numbers of people.
